Holiday Traffic in Maui

December 24, 2023 - Question: What does X-mas always bring to Maui? Answer: Unbelievable holiday traffic. Cars backed up as far as the eye can see at major intersections.

Shown here, in Kahului, Hana Hwy. at Dairy Rd., and Old Haleakala Hwy. also at Dairy Rd..

The first of these is rumored to be the very first traffic light erected on the island, in the mid-1970's. It may or may not be the oldest but verifiably it is the longest traffic light on the island. Paia did not get its first traffic light until 1992!

If you're driving one of our Maui rental cars and you get stuck in one of these traffic jams, relax, and enjoy it. All our cars have great a/c, and a great sound system, and you're on holiday so you're in no rush to get anywhere, just sing along to "Rudolf The Red-Nosed Reindeer" or Mariah Carey. All that Maui ever wanted for X-mas, was you, and your holiday greenbacks.

WEEKLY SURVEY OF MAUI CAR RENTAL RATES
