August 13, 2023 - The Maui wildfires have led to an evacuation order and an advisory for non-essential travel. For car rental companies, it's a replay of Spring 2020 as they look to put idle rental cars anywhere they can. The fields around the airport are filling up with cars. November 16, 2025 - Prices for most rental vehicles in Maui, that had peaked last week for the Veterans' Day Holiday, dropped back down to more moderate levels. Maui Car Rental Prices Are At Fall Peak Level For Veterans' Day Holiday 2025

November 9, 2025 - Prices for car rentals from Maui's Kahului Airport (OGG) stayed about the same this week after surging last week. Prices for all vehicles are at a significant premium to their median levels over the ear. However off-airport prices moderated significantly from last week, and the savings for off-airport bookings range from 14% for Jeeps to a whopping 57% for compact cars.
