August 13, 2023 - The Maui wildfires have led to an evacuation order and an advisory for non-essential travel. For car rental companies, it's a replay of Spring 2020 as they look to put idle rental cars anywhere they can. The fields around the airport are filling up with cars. Prices in most vehicle categories are roughly half (50%) of what they were one week ago, and in the range of 10% to 20% (one-tenth to one-fifth) of what they were at the February peak just three weeks ago. Prices For Maui Rental Cars Are On The Way Down From Record Mid-February Peak

Feb. 23, 2026. Maui car rental prices appear to have peaked in mid-February and they are now on their way down to a high season level that they will hold through March until after Spring Break. This is a repeatable seasonal pattern of price movement that we see every year.
